The struggle with iPods.
I know I am in the minority and most people are loving their smart phones for everything in life but I don't. I don't like relying on my phone to hold everything and nor do I trust the battery life either.
I've always been an Apple girl.
My first Apple product was an iPod classic which was everything. After that, a mac laptop appeared, shortly after there was an iPad and then eventually, an iPhone. I don't feel one bit guilty being a slave to the Apple corporation because the amount of times their expensive technology has lasted me years more then makes up for the expense.
I am fanatical about my iPod.
I think this is because I work on the radio playing music, collect music, obsess about music and I travel a lot. I also go for long walks with the iPod as well. I travel with all my music which at the moment is totalling just under 10,000 songs.
I warned you, fanatical.
To look into my iPod is worse then reading my diary. I genuinely can't bear it.
So when Apple announced they were killing iPod classic, I felt sick.
I've had iPods for the past few years and I am terrified of having to have something different because, iPod classic does everything I need. I don't want to be able to play games, use the internet, take calls on my iPod. I don't because my iPod is the only time that I tune out and just exist by myself for once. If I go walking with phone and iPod and I miss a call, so what?! It's my time.
My iPod exists purely to play music to me and I love it for that.
I am sick of seeing smart phones that last about five minutes with their batteries. I am forever letting mates charge their phones at my house because they have nothing left. I just don't want about sixty million functions on my ipod.
So here is the problem.
My iPod is starting to break. I'm living in fear but it is. It needs a minor repair but sadly, because I live in Italy, this minor repair is not easily done. I need either a new one to tide me over until I come home OR a smaller replacement iPod.
There is no one out there making large storage ipod/music devices anymore. I can get an iPod touch which is half the storage for a bigger price then the iPod classic was. It's insane.
I get that a company cannot keep an entire catalogue of older products when newer ones are developed to replace them but to get rid of something so useful??? Madness. You only have to look at the prices online to see how loved a classic is. I think its mainly people like me, music nerds.
If anyone reading this has an idea of what to do or a product, please tell me! I am not loyal to Apple anymore. I am willing to buy my first non Apple product for storage if needs be. I've solved my problem temporarily by getting an iPod nano for €20 second hand but that won't last forever either.
I really really really dislike the iPod touch because it just isn't enough storage for me. If you can suggest, please do!
Maybe they might start remaking them? (I know this is a long shot but I think its over as a technology isn't it!!!)
