The British Advertising Standards Authority has banned the advert on the grounds that the model is too thin. Bizarrely, the advert has been running since December for the brand's cruise line but is only now being banned.
"We considered that her torso and arms were quite slender and appeared to be out of proportion with her head and lower body. Further, her pose elongated her torso and accentuated her waist so that it appeared very small. We also considered that her sombre facial expression and dark make up, particularly around her eyes, made her look gaunt."
I don't see a problem with this advert other then its boring. I'm used to seeing the Gucci cruise adverts around as Gucci have actual stores in Italy as opposed to department stores in most UK cities. I do see that yes, she is thin but does banning the advert actually make a difference?
Since it has been banned, I've seen more about this advert then I did when it was a thing. That's one way to gather publicity. Even if it is slightly negative. I still find it incredibly dull though. Also, what is with the weird position of the male model on the ground?!?!?! Who sits like that?!?!?
