I love a bit of gender confusion on the runway. Alexander Wang was all about the girl pretending to be a boy pretending to be a girl this season. The emphasis was on survival of the city with pockets, functional bags, strong outerwear and mean looking models.
When will models start smiling again on runways!??!?! It's getting old now!
A largely dull palette of city-ish shades of grey and strong boyish shapes mean this was a more functional collection. Mind you, with his sporty take (and gorgeous T by Alexander Wang line) on most collections, Wang always presents collections that are based in reality and what the modern woman wants while attempting to take over the city....one utility pocket at a time. The pockets on the dresses and jackets are designed to take anything from pens to lipsticks to notepads.
There were occasional flashes of color. Which came in the form of horrific raincoats which looked as if they had been flung together over what could have been an interesting suit jacket but for those awful shorts. Note to anyone - do not attempt shorts like that unless your under a size 8 which counts me out. Those things add thickness to a thigh. Shudder. But yeah, those coats look as if they have been picked up in the lost property box in the office and thrown on as the wearer forgot to bring a coat. Ew.
Yes to the high collars though. Yes to that. Oh and any boot over the knee is alright by me!
