Frankmusik's "I Remember" - Single Review

English singer-songwriter Frankmusik is the true definition of a hidden gem. From his impressive debut album Complete Me to the controversial, mainstream Do It in the AM and the emotional and powerful Between, the 30-year-old has been sharing his unique brand of synth-pop with his devoted audience for the last six years. It all leads up to yet another artistic reinvention for his fifth studio album, For You, released on the artist's recent birthday.

To promote his strongest full body of work to date (in my humble opinion), Frankmusik shares the project's official next single, following in the footsteps of "This", which was released back in May. For "I Remember", the euphoric, dance-driven track, the artist reminisces on the low points of his past, only to pick his head up and walk towards the future. It's an uplifting and encouraging premise, supporting by slick and polished pop production, a sound we really haven't heard since his last record label release.

"I Remember" is not only a catchy, reflective piece of pop, it also gives listeners' a solid representation of the track's infectious parent album and its beat-heavy contents. From its first note, to the inescapable hook, the new release pushes its 80s-influenced synths to the forefront, making for a thrilling and contagious effort. The mix of inspirations is carried by an alluring, seductive performance from Frankmusik, showcasing the talents that have kept fans coming back for more.

The artist chooses to forget about the "stupid little dramas" to focus on the laughter seemingly brought on by a new flame. "No longer alone, baby make me feel whole, this is how life's supposed to be," the artist sings with a more optimistic view of life. The underlying message comes off as true and sincere, with relatable songwriting that does not come off too complicated or forced, allowing listeners to form an immediate connection.

To accompanying "I Remember", Frankmusik released its simplistic yet informative music video. Interwoven with scenes of the artist standing alone, reciting the lyrics of the track, as if he were performing for a school talent show, bright white images of objects representing memories are shown. The blank pages coincide with Frankmusik's bleak view of his past, but the colorful explosion of confetti shows a change in heart and mind, paving the way for a brighter future.

It was a smart decision to share "I Remember" as promotion for the recently released For You. The single does a great job generating positive buzz and adds another radio-friendly layer to Frankmusik's impressive musical abilities.
